I Have Left Substack

I hummed and hawed for a while about Substack. I really wanted to use it but since I began, the site has changed and I have found more recently that I am bombarded with emails re posts and often from people I do and do not follow so I just decided to give it up.

Here, on my website in the blog section I can post what I want and people can read them without having to sign up. You can follow of course, which would be lovely, but you are not obliged to do so. As I understand it, you can read one or all of them without having to pay.

So my first post here, after many months, is a short one just to let you know what I’m doing. Hopefully another post will follow soon and it will be full of interesting and newsy things to brighten your day in this rather strange world we are living in at the moment.

I’m aiming to publish my memoir, ‘Life in the Boot’ about living in Italy, before the end of the year or at the very latest in January 2027. Just need to get all my ducks in a row and boom. . .

Things Have Changed. . .

There’s been a few changes to the WordPress website. It’s grown and is no longer just a blog…The domain name has changed but hopefully it won’t make any difference to blog followers. Just keep a lookout for NinetteHartley rather than Ninette90. Any problems then use the contact form here to send me a message.

The blog will continue in just the same way so please keep following or if you’re not signed up yet then please do.

Today is just a quick update but look out for another post later in the week.

Note Number 90…Should It End Here?

90 copy

I opened up the programme to write this latest blog post, and I realised that it would be post number 90. As the whole point of this site was to have 90 posts, it appears I may have just come to the end. But, who cares? I think I’ll carry on for now.

The news is that I am forging ahead on the self-publishing route for my memoir with great gusto! It’s a learning curve that’s for sure. Proofreader, ISBNs, typesetters, printers, distribution  — it’s all go. Writing the book was nothing compared to the work I’m having to put in now. I’m sure it will be worth it though.

I’m also setting up a new website where there will be a link  to order the book. You will be able to read reviews — or send them in when you’ve read it! This blog will be published on that website too. There’ll be a cover reveal at the beginning of March and hopefully the book will be available in print and as an ebook from the middle to end of April. As soon as I have an actual date I’ll let you know.

Yes! There will be a launch, online or face to face, depending on the restrictions. I’ll be drinking the fizz either way. I’ll read a few excepts from Dear Tosh (I have settled on that title) and maybe do a Q&A session.

It’s all very exciting. No time to stop now. Better dash…need to just do the millionth read through of the manuscript. Feels like being back at school…
